What a pleasure it was to see the beautiful scenery of North and South Carolina. This was a very hard day. There were many curves on the road and scary images of cars coming at us. However, when we reached Kings Mountain Park, it was an amazing walk. Manny's feet were very blistered today. The team got very tired after climbing many hills and walking the difficult trails. Today was the hardest day thus far and might be the hardest of the two week journey. Damien's act of compassion towards an elderly woman sitting on her porch, touched the team in a deep way. The elderly lady got up out of chair to greet Damien as he walked by.
Despite the difficult roads, the team did come up with a chant that is growing more and more popular and has become our rallying cry...W O R L D W A L K!!!
We arrived into Blacksburg, SC and were welcomed by the community, First Baptist Church and the Samaritan's Feet car and tractor trailer. Melissa, from SolesUnited, provided much relief to our hurting feet by distributing Crocs to the team. Manny spoke to the congregation and Damien entertained the crowd and shared his story of being homeless and his rise out of poverty to achieve his music success. We ended the night with an awesome dinner from the church that filled our empty stomachs. Onto Gaffney, SC!!!
