Over 200 children were blessed with new athletic shoes at the Tillicum Shoes of Hope Distribution in Lakewood, Washington!

Samaritan's Feet partnered for this event with Tillicum Youth and Family Center Administrators, Dan Livingston and Alex Henning.  Tillicum Youth and Family Center is a branch of the Tacoma Youth for Christ organization and provides needed services to youth in the Tillicum area.
The day started off at 9 AM with the arrival of an enthusiastic group of volunteers who set up the facility for the foot washing and shoe distribution. For the next five hours, a steady stream of shoe recipients and their families lined up at the Tillicum Youth and Family center.
Samaritan’s Feet Regional Coordinator Jeane Speaks knew it was going to be a good day when she caught one of the first three boys and their mother leaving the site.  The young boy was jumping down the street in his new shoes & socks, energetically waving his arms in the air!
Volunteers spent the afternoon serving Tillicum area youth by washing feet and providing shoes and socks to each child.  Supporters of the project raised enough socks so that each child was provided three new pairs in addition to the new shoes.  Parents took photos of their children having their feet washed and receiving shoes.

It was a special day, filled with joy and smiles from families and volunteers.  Following the event, volunteer Tyler Farr stated, "It was awesome and I really hope to be able to help out on the December 12th event at the YMCA!"
